Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how EMDR Therapy Space (“I,” “me,” or “my”) handles information collected through my website, www.emdrtherapyspace.com, and through email, phone, and text communication with me. This policy covers my website and general communications. How I protect the health information of my clients is described separately in my HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices (see “Your Health Information” below).

About This Policy

My website does not have contact forms, intake forms, or user accounts, and it does not ask you to submit personal or health information.

Information collected automatically. My website is hosted by Squarespace. When you visit, Squarespace may automatically collect limited technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, time spent on the site, and the website that referred you. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, keep it secure, and provide me with general visitor statistics.

Information you choose to send me. If you contact me by email, phone, or text using the contact information on my website, I will receive your name, contact information, and anything you include in your message.

Information This Website Collects

I use the information I receive only to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and schedule consultations or appointments

  • Send appointment reminders and scheduling messages you have agreed to receive

  • Maintain, secure, and improve my website

I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, and I do not use it for advertising or marketing by third parties.

How I Use Information

Please do not send detailed health or clinical information by email or text, especially before we have begun working together. Initial contact is best kept brief, such as your name, the best way to reach you, and a general reason for reaching out. Clients share health information, complete paperwork, and send secure messages through the SimplePractice client portal, which is designed to protect health information.

This website and my email, phone, and text lines are not monitored for emergencies. If you are in a crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.

Protecting Your Confidentiality

I use a small number of trusted providers to run my practice. Providers that may handle client health information have signed a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with me, which legally requires them to protect that information under HIPAA.

  1. SimplePractice: Electronic health records, client portal, scheduling, and billing — BAA in place

  2. Google Workspace: Practice email — BAA in place

  3. Phone.com: Practice phone line, voicemail, and text messaging — BAA in place

  4. Squarespace: Website hosting basic visitor statistics — Not needed (no health information is collected on my website)

These providers may only use your information to provide their services to me. You can read Squarespace’s privacy policy at: squarespace.com/privacy.

Service Providers I Use

By providing your mobile number and agreeing to receive texts, you consent to receive text messages from EMDR Therapy Space at 310-751-7017. These messages relate to your care, such as appointment reminders, scheduling, and replies to messages you send me.

  • Message frequency: Frequency varies based on your scheduling needs

  • Message and data rates may apply

  • To opt out: Reply “STOP” at any time to stop receiving text messages

  • Consent is optional: Agreeing to receive text messages is not a condition of receiving services.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Text messages are not a fully secure form of communication. Please do not include detailed health information in texts.

SMS/Text Messaging

Cookies. Squarespace uses cookies to make my website work and to provide basic visitor statistics. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended.

Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no uniform standard for responding to these signals, my website does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.

Third-Party Tracking. I do not allow advertising networks or other third parties to track your activity on my website for advertising purposes. Squarespace, as my website host, may collect information about your visits as described in its own privacy policy.

Cookies, Do Not Track, and Online Tracking

As a licensed mental health provider, I am required by HIPAA to protect the privacy of my client’s health information. My Notice of Privacy Practices explains how client health information may be used and disclosed, and the rights clients have regarding that information. Clients also receive a copy of this notice at the start of treatment.

Your Health Information

I take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using HIPAA-compliant services with signed BAAs for email, phone, text, and health records. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security.

Security

My website may link to other websites, such as the SimplePractice client portal or helpful resources. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, and I encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Links to Other Websites

My website is not directed to children under 18, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it. Parents or guardians seeking services for a minor should contact me directly.

Children’s Privacy

I do not share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. If you would like to review or request a correction to personal information you have sent me, please contact me using the information below.

Your California Privacy Rights

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
